I'm going to be cosplaying soon, and I was wondering what the best way there is to get your haircut like a specific character? Bring in a picture? Try to describe it to your hairdresser? Any ideas? What's the best way to get your hair cut for a cosplay?
I'd for sure bring in a picture. I've done gotten my hair done for cosplays several times, and it always works better with a picture of the actual character. Try and bring in pictures at all angles; front, side, back, top. That will give your hairdresser a good idea of what they're trying to recreate. Keep in mind though...you're working with real hair, sometimes it's impossible to recreate what an artist has drawn. Pick out what you think are the most distinctive parts of the hair style, and focus on that. Be very clear with your hair stylist! She/he will probably have no idea what you're trying to do, and will be hesitant to do something drastic, or that they think will look odd for every day wear.
I also recommend what a previous user said...find a picture of someone cosplaying the character as well! That will help your stylist have an idea of what the cut/color/style should look like in real life. If something is inaccurate in the picture, be sure to point that out.
Good luck! What's the best way to get your hair cut for a cosplay?
I wouldn't bring in a picture of some anime character. Find a picture online of somebody that's cosplaying the character you'd wish to cosplay and bring that one in. If none are available, try to find similar hairstyles to the anime character. You can always style it the way you want.
HI Fai-Chan
I really do think this hairstyle is cool
