It depends on a guy's head shape, face and neck shape, frontal hairline and facial features as well as the aesthetic sense and technical skill of the barber and the style of flat top or crew cut the customer asks for. If he asks the barber to cut a flat top style that is not going to fully suit him no matter what the barber does, then it probably won't be the best looking flat top. For instance, many guys who wear flat tops now days, ask for hn't beveled flat tops or even horseshoe flat tops.
