If you're brushing him regularly and he's not matted or tangled, and his coat isn't dirty, then you probably don't need to take him to a groomer yet.





If he has mats and tangles that you can't get to come out, or if his coat is brittle, discolored, or disheveled-looking, then you need to take him to a groomer.





In general, Maltese should be groomed about every 6 weeks.
